Rate my beat

Upload a beat and get eight scores out of 100 in seconds — measured from the audio itself, not voted on by strangers. Free, no download, works with any DAW.

Most feedback a producer gets is either "fire 🔥" or silence. Neither tells you what to fix. FLRanked measures the things that actually separate a beat that competes from one that doesn't, and gives you the number for each.

The exact thresholds behind those numbers aren't published, on purpose — a published target is a target to game, and the scores would stop meaning anything. The categories tell you where the problem is. Fixing it is still production.

What gets measured

Mix

Whether your overall level sits where competitive releases sit, and whether you pushed it hard enough to crush the peaks getting there.

Scoring low here? A low score usually means one of two things: too quiet to compete, or squashed so hard nothing moves any more.

Low end

Whether the bottom of your mix is defined, or smeared into the low mids.

Scoring low here? This is the most common reason a beat sounds amateur on good speakers while sounding fine on laptop speakers.

Tonal balance

How your energy is distributed from the bottom to the top, and whether anything is harsh or dull.

Scoring low here? Usually a build-up somewhere in the upper mids — the thing that makes a beat tiring to listen to twice.

Dynamics

Whether the beat still breathes, or has been flattened into a solid block.

Scoring low here? Over-limiting. A loud beat with no movement scores worse here than a quieter one that still hits.

Groove

Your tempo, how tightly your hits sit against each other, and how sharp your transients are.

Scoring low here? Either sloppy timing or the opposite — quantised so hard it stops swinging. Timing is read between hits, so starting off-grid isn't punished.

Arrangement

How much the track actually moves through distinct sections.

Scoring low here? Eight bars looped sixteen times reads as one section, and scores like one.

Melody use

Whether you built on the melody you drafted, including a match to its relative key.

Scoring low here? The melody is buried, replaced, or barely there.

Clarity

Whether your export is clean.

Scoring low here? Clipping and other export problems — the easiest points to stop throwing away.

How to get your beat rated

  1. Make a free account — email and a password, nothing else.
  2. Start a battle. You draft a pack of three melodies out of nine.
  3. Build your beat on one of them, with your own drums.
  4. Export and upload a WAV, MP3 or FLAC. The scores come back in seconds.

Questions producers ask

How do I get my beat rated?

Start a battle on FLRanked, build on the melody pack you draft, and upload a WAV, MP3 or FLAC. You get eight scores out of 100 and a total, usually within a few seconds of the upload finishing.

Is it free to get a beat rated?

Yes. FLRanked is free, there is nothing to download, and it runs in the browser.

Who decides the score?

Nobody. The score comes from audio analysis of the file itself — loudness, spectrum, dynamics, timing, structure and key. There is no public vote, so the same two beats always produce the same result and a result cannot be brigaded.

Why aren't the exact targets published?

Because then the game becomes hitting the numbers rather than making a good beat, and the people who'd do that first are the ones trying to climb the ladder without earning it. The categories tell you where to look; the fix is still a better beat.

Does it work with FL Studio?

It works with whatever you make beats in. FLRanked never touches your project — you export audio and upload the file, so FL Studio, Ableton, Logic, Reason, Studio One and everything else all work the same way.

Will it tell me how to fix my mix?

The eight categories are the diagnosis. A low Low end score with a high Mix score means the balance is fine but the sub isn't defined; a low Dynamics score with a high Mix score means you over-limited. The numbers point at the problem.
